Mind Maiden

I believe symbols are among the most powerful tools for understanding the human mind. Across cultures and throughout history, humanity has relied on them to express what words alone cannot. We encounter symbols every day. A wave, a smile, a tear, a wedding ring, or even a melody communicates meaning before a single word is spoken. We do not consciously analyze these symbols; we simply understand them. Language often comes after meaning has already been experienced.

To me, the unconscious works in much the same way. It speaks through dreams, emotions, intuition, recurring patterns, and symbolic associations rather than carefully constructed arguments. A symbol is more than what it is. It is what it means.

Every experience we have is filtered through the beliefs we already carry. Two people can live through the same event and walk away with entirely different understandings of what happened. Reality is experienced through meaning. When meaning changes, our experience of reality changes with it.

Our upbringing, culture, relationships, memories, and experiences shape the stories we tell ourselves, often without our conscious awareness. Those stories become beliefs. Those beliefs shape perception. Perception shapes the choices we make, and those choices shape the lives we create. Therefore, symbols become one of the most direct ways of engaging with the beliefs that quietly shape our perception of reality.

The remarkable thing is that those beliefs are not fixed. They can be questioned or redefined.

Rather than seeing tarot, astrology, ritual, and spellwork as separate practices, I see them as different dialects of the same symbolic language: different ways of entering into dialogue with the unconscious.

The word I use to describe this philosophy is Magick.

Magick is the practical art of giving symbolic form to inner experience in order to enter into dialogue with the unconscious. Tarot, ritual, spellwork, and astrological reflection each give symbolic form to inner experience, inviting hidden beliefs, emotions, and patterns into awareness where they can be understood, challenged, and intentionally transformed. They are meaningful not because they replace action, but because they shape the way we understand ourselves, our possibilities, and the direction we choose to move toward. Inner change gradually becomes outward change, one intentional choice at a time.

Whether these practices are understood spiritually, psychologically, or somewhere in between, I believe they share something fundamental: they invite us to participate consciously in our own process of becoming.
